India has one of the biggest youth populations in the world, providing a major demographic advantage for social and economic advancement. However, the workforce must possess market-oriented and pertinent skills in order for this demographic dividend to result in national success. Therefore, skill development and employability are crucial to India's long-term development strategy, especially in light of the country's goal of becoming developed by 2047. This study looks at the connection between employability and skill development in India and considers how bolstering the skill ecosystem can support Viksit Bharat 2047. The study draws attention to the present issues facing the Indian labor market, such as a mismatch in skills, a lack of vocational training, and a lack of industry-academia cooperation. It also looks at significant government programs like the National Education Policy 2020 reforms, the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, and the Skill India Mission. The study comes to the conclusion that developing a workforce prepared for the future requires enhancing vocational education, fostering entrepreneurship, advancing digital and technology capabilities, and fortifying ties between business and academic institutions. India can turn its demographic advantage into sustainable economic growth and global competitiveness by investing in human capital and equipping young people with contemporary skills.
