This article examines the history of the formation and development of the I.V. Savitsky State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan as a unique scientific and cultural center. It analyzes the formation of the museum's three main collections: traditional Karakalpak folk art, fine art of Uzbekistan from the 1920s to 1940s, and Russian avant-garde. Particular attention is given to the museum's research activities and its role in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Karakalpakstan throughout various periods. Changes in the institution's status and activities since the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan are also highlighted.
