To compare patient and care outcomes between adequate and inadequate nurse staffing, quantifying associations with mortality, patient safety (health care–associated infection and surgical complications), missed nursing care, length of stay, and readmissions. The population is registered nurses as the indicators and collects studies intended to identify all effect sizes that represented the impact of nurse staffing ratio on outcomes, from odds ratios (OR) or risk ratios with 95% confidence intervals (CI), log OR values or provided sufficient data for calculation (cohort 2x2).
