This project tells the story of Louise-Bénédicte de Bourbon-Condé, the self-proclaimed 'dictatrice perpétuelle' who founded the satirical 'Ordre de la mouche à miel' in 1703 in France. Long portrayed as crazy, inconsistent, and hysterical, primary sources reveal a different reality of an influential patron surrounded by leading intellectuals and artists. Life at the Château de Sceaux was vibrant and intellectually rich.The starting point of this research is my PIA project, in which I decided to write an opera to share her remarkable story. Inspired by 'Les grandes nuits de Sceaux', where operas, poems, and plays were created, I co-wrote a libretto based on some music composed by members of the Duchess's entourage, including Colin de Blâmont, Nicolas Bernier, and Antoine Forqueray.Motivated by reading about her life versus how she was portrayed, I realized how I was influenced by the negative biases of her men biographers, particularly Charles Augustin Sainte-Beuve, who shaped a negative perception of the duchess through time. This led me to revise the first version of the libretto, questioning the image of her history I wanted to share with the public and researching the impact of the sources in how we read historical facts.In this exposition, I delve into her biography, contemporary perception of her, and discuss the process of creating this opera, while offering a critique of those portraits. keywords:
