Authority Provenance as the Evidentiary Foundation of Governance: A Conceptual and Developmental Note for IAGD 2.2

Abstract This conceptual and developmental note documents the theoretical refinement accompanying the publication of Institutional Authority and Governance Dynamics (IAGD) 2.2. It reconstructs the developmental pathway through which Authority Provenance was explicitly formalized as the evidentiary foundation of governance within the IAGD research architecture. The note explains how reciprocal scholarly engagement concerning provenance, attribution, conceptual boundaries, traceability, accountability, and authority-source differentiation informed the controlled refinement of IAGD 2.1 while preserving the original architecture. It distinguishes developmental scholarly contributions from the resulting theoretical synthesis and establishes clear attribution boundaries. Authority Provenance is presented as a cross-cutting evidentiary property that enables attribution, traceability, accountability, boundary enforcement, authority recovery, and institutional continuity across the canonical Institutional Authority Dynamics research program. Rather than introducing an additional framework, the note demonstrates how Authority Provenance integrates and explains the evidentiary relationships underlying the existing theoretical architecture. This publication serves as the conceptual companion to the IAGD 2.2 Revised Visual Framework and the IAGD Conceptual Vocabulary and Construct Boundaries (Public Edition v1.2).
