Criminal professionalism is represented as a type of criminal activity. The historical stages of the formation of this type of crime are outlined, modern ideas about its content are summarized. The main signs of criminal professionalism are highlighted (systematic nature, dominance of a certain type of criminal activity) and optional (sufficient level of criminal qualifications, permanent income from criminal activity, connection with a criminal community). The advantage of the proposed scientific definition for the tasks of criminological prevention of criminal professionalism is shown. The inevitability of the involvement of professional criminals in the criminal community has been established. The directions of activity of state bodies for the prevention of crime of this type are highlighted. Criminological prevention of criminal professionalism is divided into managerial, organizational, organizational and tactical levels, and the content of each of them is presented. Attention is paid to the ideological provision of criminological prevention of criminal professionalism. The necessity of a systematic approach to the problem of criminal professionalism is confirmed.
