Environmental education plays a key role in the continuous development of environmental awareness, sustainability skills and responsible decision-making. This study analyses the integration of environmental education into the geography curriculum using participatory learning methods, and different case studies and taking into account the analysis and integration of content within the high school curriculum. The results highlight the importance of environmental education on student behaviour, leading to environmental awareness, adoption of sustainable practices and active involvement in community initiatives. Effective teaching strategies (interactive games, practical field activities and interdisciplinary approaches) contribute to deepening the understanding of environmental issues and developing applicable solutions to geographic environmental problems. In addition, updating the curriculum with emerging sustainability themes and collaborating with environmental specialists ensure students’ access to up-to-date and relevant information, preparing them to face contemporary environmental challenges. The adoption of appropriate pedagogical methods determines the active involvement of students in environmental protection and ensuring the stability of the geographical environment.
