A New Approach to (2,2-bi)Pyridines with (Triptycene-2-yl)Amine Moiety

An effective synthetic approach to (2,2-bi)pyridines having a fragment of ((,)-9,10-dihydro-9,10-1,2benzenoanthracene-2-yl)amine ((tryptycene-2-yl)amine) in the alpha position via their 1,2,4-triazine precursors has been proposed; the synthesis was made as a result of the nucleophilic substitution of the cyano group at the C5 position of 3-(2-pyridyl)-1,2,4-triazines and the subsequent Bodger reaction with 2,5-norbornadiene.
