Adoption Strategies of Agroforestry in Enhancing Soil Health within Rwandan Highland Regions

Agroforestry practices have been identified as a promising strategy for enhancing soil health in agricultural landscapes. A mixed methods approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative surveys to explore farmers' perspectives and practices. Farmers in the study region adopted a mix of traditional and innovative agroforestry techniques, with a notable increase in tree species diversity from 40% to 65% over two years. The findings highlight the importance of farmer education and community engagement for promoting sustainable agroforestry practices. Policy makers should invest in capacity building programmes targeting smallholder farmers, with a focus on improving access to information about soil health benefits.
