Dear Colleague, Most of us did not think that this winter would be so harsh, but it did turn out to be unexpectedly cold. This, coupled with atmospheric pollution, turned out to be a deadly brew for cardiopulmonary disease states. The first original article is an insightful article titled “Effectiveness of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training for Intensive Care Unit Nurses: A Real-Time Assessment Study” from Dr. Poonam Joshi and colleagues. This article talks about in hospital cardiac arrest, nurses as first responders, and the needs for better training to increase the overall survival. The second original article titled “A Cross-sectional Survey to Evaluate Adherence to Blood Pressure Measurement Practices Among Physicians” with leading authors from across the country touches some very basic tenets in blood pressure control such as blood pressure cuff selection, measurement techniques, and guideline-recommended practices. The third is a review article from Nepal “Fasting Versus Non-fasting for Cardiac Interventions: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis” by Dr. Dhan Bahadur Shrestha and colleagues. This is a timely study and emphasizes the role of fasting before cardiac procedures. Dr. Saptarshi Halder and colleagues. have sent an interesting case report entitled “Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries: An Undiagnosed Case Presenting with Heart Failure in Adulthood.” It shows the power of carefully performed two-dimensional echocardiography. This article is accompanied by an elegant editorial by Dr. Satyanarayana from Medanta Gurugram. The next is an interesting manuscript “Images in Cardiology” from Dr. Devesh Kumar and colleagues. The electrocardiograph pictures are classic, as is the angiogram. The start of the year 2026 has been good academically from the Journal, as most of the articles are really insightful and interesting. Anyway, dear reader, you will read more of such articles in the months to follow.
