Abstract

This skills audit was conducted within the Chief Directorate: Construction of the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) to support the DWS's commitment to developing a skilled and capable workforce. This aligns with broader national directives, such as the call in the State of the Nation Address for professionalization, the goals of the National Development Plan (NDP) 2030, and organizational strategic goals related to effective infrastructure delivery. The primary objective of this skills audit is to assess the current skills profile of Chief Directorate: Construction staff, identify key skills gaps and training needs relative to the directorate's mandate (NWRI project implementation) and operational requirements, and provide recommendations for targeted skills development interventions.
