She is a cardiovascular and nutritional epidemiologist whose research focuses on fatty acids, diet, diabetes, and cardiovascular outcomes, with emphasis on American Indian communities. She is Principal Investigator of the Dakotas field site for the Strong Heart Study and leads community-based intervention trials.
