Introduction: AKI is among the major co-morbidities in hospitalized patients. AKI is also a common occurrence among cancer patients, due to many causes. As a consequence of AKI in cancer patients, there is a halt or delay in their treatment especially with chemotherapy, they usually need further medical and surgical interventions and sometimes dialysis too. Methodology: For this retrospective study we collected data from January 2024 to December 31st 2024 from the data archive section of Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center after obtaining the permission from the IRC. We statistically analysed the data to find the incidence of AKI in these patients with diagnosed cancer. The study also identified the common causes of AKI among these patients of cancer. Result: The incidence of AKI in our study population of cancer patients of Nepal cancer hospital and research center was 8.52%. The most common type of AKI was pre-renal caused mostly due to UTI and sepsis, followed by the second most common type, Intrinsic Renal type, caused mostly due to radio-iodinated contrast induced AKI, lastly followed by the type post-renal due to obstructive uropathy. Conclusion: The incidence of AKI in cancer patients is lower than those identified by previous studies of other countries. The knowledge of common causes of AKI identifies the area where we ought to take preventive and therapeutic steps so as to mitigate the occurrence of developing AKI among cancer patients.
