Background: Objective: Epidural analgesia is commonly used for labour pain relief, but its impact on the second stage of labour remains debated. To evaluate the effect of epidural analgesia on the duration of the second stage of labour in primigravida women. A retrospective Methods: comparative study of 60 primigravida women delivering vaginally at term was conducted from January 2025 to April 2025 in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, SHKBM, Jhalawar Medical College. They were divided into two groups: 30 received epidural analgesia (Group A), and 30 did not (Group B). Second stage duration, neonatal outcomes, and maternal satisfaction were analyzed. The mean second stage Results: duration was significantly longer in Group A (81 ± 20 minutes) than in Group B (54 ± 16 minutes) (p < 0.001). Neonatal Apgar scores and birth weight were similar. 86.7% of Group A mothers rated their satisfaction as good to excellent. Epidura Conclusion: l analgesia prolongs the second stage of labour in primigravida women, but it does not adversely affect neonatal outcomes or patient satisfaction. It remains a safe and effective method for labour pain relief.
