This service evaluation reports on the facilitators and barriers to co-production in an NHS acute Trust where it is not current standard practice. Semi-structured interviews and focus groups were conducted with clinicians and Patient Forum members. Using reflexive thematic analysis, two facilitator themes were identified: (1) valuing the patient voice and (2) building on existing structures. Three barrier themes were identified: (1) transition of culture; (2) promoting accessibility for patients; and (3) pressure on trust resources. A trust wide approach to facilitate co-production as standard practice is advocated and recommendations are made on how to increase the accessibility of co-production to clinicians.
