This article explores psychologists’ experience of moral injury and compassion fatigue in NHS mental health services, whilst considering the current NHS and socio-political climate. It establishes a context for current service pressures and waiting lists, whilst exploring the impact of this on psychologists. Possible ways of managing burnout and moral injury as a system are discussed which will be vital to the longevity of our careers in the NHS.
