The research aims to investigate the relationship between house dust mite (HDM) sensitisation and atopy in a tropical environment.
Conducted a cohort study in the Singapore–Malaysia region.
Analyzed data on atopy and HDM sensitisation prevalence.
Measured concordance between HDM sensitisation and atopic status.
Atopy prevalence was 66.1% in the cohort.
HDM sensitisation prevalence was 63.5%.
High concordance was found between HDM sensitisation and atopic status.
Abstract
Summary Atopy (66.1%) and HDM sensitisation (63.5%) were highly prevalent in the SMCGES cohort. In this tropical Singapore–Malaysia cohort, HDM sensitisation demonstrated high concordance with atopic status.
