Considering the limitation that existing experimental and evaluation methods for insensitive munitions are unable to fully satisfy the requirements of quantitatively characterizing and safety assessing different response levels of fuzes, this study developed the strain-type pressure bar sensor to experimentally explore the response characteristics of fuzes with different shell thicknesses under fragment impact. The developed sensor system was used to measure the output pressure corresponding to different response degrees. To further verify the experimental results, numerical simulations were carried out to analyze the response behavior of fuzes under fragment impact. The simulation results under various loading conditions were compared with the output pressures obtained from experiments. The good agreement between the simulation and experimental data validates the accuracy and reliability of the proposed testing methodology and evaluation framework, which allows for the precise measurement of output pressure in insensitive munitions and the quantitative classification of their response levels using the strain-type pressure bar sensor.
