Until recently, information about GUYOT’S description of Loa filariasis was available only in a book by ARRACHART (1805). A surgeon, GUYOT, discovered worms under the conjunctiva of Africans, surgically removed them, and reported his findings. He also noted the term ‘Lôa’, which originated with Africans. The significance of GUYOT's work for understanding Loa filariasis is highlighted on the basis of the original documents.
Hans-Georg Friedrich Huber (Wed,) studied this question.
