This report examines 25 prewar university auditoriums constructed of RC and SRC, highlighting renovation strategies and associated challenges. Even in cases where no original construction drawings were available, examples were found in which surveys of alumni were conducted to estimate exterior wall colors, as well as cases where flexible responses were made possible through untargeted reserve funds. Concerns were also raised that adequate subsidies could not be expected, even after the buildings were granted cultural property status. A 2023 survey of auditorium revenues showed significant variation among universities, indicating the need for more effective utilization of these facilities.
