This study evaluates microscopic diascopic dermoscopy (MDD), a novel technique combining diascopy with fluid immersion and inexpensive handheld microscopes, as a low-cost alternative to conventional dermoscopy. In an international cohort of non-specialist doctors and medical students, we demonstrate that diagnostic confidence using MDD is comparable to traditional dermoscopy when assessing common benign skin lesions, including seborrheic keratoses and benign vascular lesions.
