Ten trenches were opened mechanically under archaeological supervision and potentially archaeological features investigated by hand. Much of the site had been heavily truncated by modern services. A isngle short stretch of ditch was the only possible archaeological features; it contained small abraded sherds of medieval pottery and tile, and two struck flints but need not be of an early date.
