The literature on this topic has long described the narcissist as an individual who seeks the reflection of others to confirm his own grandiosity. Freud spoke of ego libido, Kohut of the need for mirroring, Kernberg of object relations pathology. All perspectives converge on an implicit axiom: the narcissist wants to be seen. I propose something radically different here.
