The Runaway Galvanic Boost: A Condensed‑Matter Hypothesis for Acoustically‑Driven Compositional Selection in Liquid Mercury

This manuscript presents a theoretical hypothesis in condensed‑matter physics. Cardone et al. (2017) reported the appearance of multiple new elements in liquid mercury following ultrasonic treatment at approximately 20 kHz, attributing the results to “Deformed Space-Time” (DST) nuclear reactions. This paper proposes an alternative condensed-matter interpretation that requires no new physics. We identify a striking statistical anomaly in the Cardone product distribution: all 13 reported elements are known to be superconductor-capable in elemental or compound form — a 100% correlation we term the Quantum Selection Rule. We propose that this selectivity arises not from nuclear transmutation but from a self-reinforcing electrochemical mechanism, the Runaway Galvanic Boost (RGB), driven by acoustically-induced resistivity collapse, selective amalgamation thermodynamics, and galvanic potential differences between dissolved metal particulates and liquid mercury. We further propose that the system may be stabilised and extended using a combined acoustic-magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) configuration. Five falsifiable experimental predictions are stated explicitly. We make no claim of experimental validation.
