: Fragaria indica Andr. also called Duchesnea indica Andr, belongs to the rosacea family. Amnesia, also called amnestic syndrome, refers to the loss of memories, including facts, information and experiences. : In the current study the phytochemical profile of the Duchesnea indica has been evaluated by HPLC and GC-MS analysis. The crude extract and fraction were then screened for its in-vitro antioxidant, anti-cholinesterase inhibitory potentials and anti-amnesic potentials : The HPLC and GC-MS analysis revealed presence of number of biologically active phytochemicals. The anti-oxidant and anti-cholinesterase activities results were appreciable. In Y-maze test, scopolamine has reduced spontaneous adaptation, Donepezil, has enhanced the adaptation. Test doses of crude extract as well as fractions has suppressed the memory defect induced by scopolamine at their respective doses. In novel object recognition test Discrimination index (DI) for Rf-Chl fraction was found more promising than crude as well as ethyl acetate fraction. : The selected plant could be considered as good source of phytochemicals having free radical scavenging ability as well as memory repairing capability.
