As a significant figure in the history of modern Chinese literature, Shen Congwen's works provide a high-calibre textual foundation for cinematic adaptations. Huang Shuqin's film The Mainland Prostitute, adapted from Shen Congwen's novel Husband, showcases significant differences in narrative stances and thematic expression, shaped by dual differences in gender perspective and historical context. This study found that the film adaptation possesses greater contemporary relevance than the original work, yet to some extent diminished the artistic artistic depth and value.
