Abstract This case proposes a critical analysis of algorithmic design decisions in dating applications, considering their ethical, social, and legal implications. Based on real-world platforms, students are invited to assume the role of AI ethics consultants to evaluate how choices related to data collection and use, compatibility criteria, and visibility mechanisms influence fairness, privacy, discrimination, and user inclusion. The activity encourages the application of interdisciplinary principles to propose solutions that balance ethical responsibility with business sustainability.
