Key Points

  • This research aims to develop a high-efficiency multiplex gene editing system to improve soybean traits.
  • Utilized CRISPR-Cas12i3-5M technology for gene editing
  • Targeted 13 specific sites in the soybean genome
  • Generated germplasm with modified oil composition
  • Achieved high oleic acid content in soybean
  • Eliminated beany flavor in the modified soybeans
  • Demonstrated efficiency in multiplex editing across multiple targets

Abstract

The high-efficiency multiplex gene editing technology based CRISPR-Cas12i3-5M is capable of simultaneously editing 13 target sites in soybean, and was used to generate germplasm with high oleic acid content and no beany flavor.
