Abstract

Being a parent/caregiver introduces a unique set of stressors into an individual's life, as they are now responsible for the well-being of someone other than themselves. To support parents and families, it is important that researchers, practitioners, and policymakers understand how different environmental factors, such as neighborhood crime, uniquely impact them. This study indicates that parents may suffer from more depressive symptoms because of the crime level around their homes. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2026 APA, all rights reserved).
