The owl ( Tyto alba ) is a natural predator that helps control rat pests in rice fields. A barn owl nest box serves as an important artificial nest for T. alba . This study was conducted to document the specifications of barn owl nest boxes. The research took place in Kebon Cau Village, Ujungjaya Subdistrict, Sumedang Regency, using a descriptive survey method involving field observations and interviews. Informants were selected through purposive sampling, targeting individuals with in-depth knowledge of barn owl nest boxes in the village. The nest box specifications recorded in this study included roof color and material, wall color and material, entrance hole orientation, as well as the material, color, diameter, and base of the supporting poles. The typical barn owl nest box in Kebon Cau Village measures 54 × 54 × 48 cm, with a 70 × 27 cm roof, made of sengon wood ( Albizia chinensis ), and equipped with a perch, ventilation openings, and a 10 × 12 cm door. The base and roof are covered with gutter carpet or zinc, while the exterior is coated with waterproof paint. The entrance door of the nest box generally faces north or south. Nest boxes may be installed on poles (made of gelam wood, bamboo, or metal pipes) or mounted on trees or buildings, typically at a height of 3–4 meters above the ground. The size of the barn owl nest box is within the size range of barn owl nest box used by T. alba researchers and conservationists. This size range is occupied by T. alba .
