We have studied the heat transport of an impinging jet interfering with a Couette flow by discussing the Nusselt number on the impinging surface, the time-averaged and rms intensity distributions of the temperature scalar field, and the heat flux in the flow. However, although these indicators can compare the local scalar fluctuations, they are not sufficient to verify the scalar diffusion and mixing in the entire flow field. While the half-widths of velocity or scalar distributions are generally used to discuss the spatial spread of the axial jet, they are inadequate for properly comparing the jet diffusions in the interfering flows, such as this study where the flow fields become three-dimensional. On the other hand, several studies evaluate the scalar mixing of free jets by the statistical entropy based on information theory. They have been able to compare the scalar diffusion and mixing quantitatively between different jet conditions. In this study, we applied this entropy to discuss the temperature scalar diffusion and mixing in the flow fields of the impinging jet interfering with the Couette flow, using the jet inlet angles as the condition parameters.
