Methods: A retrospective design using a chart review of all outpatient hemodialysis patients with documented CRBSI from 2018 to 2023.Patient clinical and demographic profiles, outcomes, and total hospitalization costs were reviewed. Results: The overall cumulative CRBSI rate was 0.9 per 1000 catheter days. The presence of diabetes mellitus was associated with poorer outcomes, particularly prolonged hospital stay, increased CRBSI recurrence, and mortality rates. The average cost per hospitalization for CRBSI patients was PHP 338,069.70 ( 301,718.40),with medications accounting for the largest portion (PHP 54,825.85 58,589.45) of the total cost. Conclusion: This study found a low incidence rate of CRBSI, which falls within the target rate set by KDOQI.Despite its low incidence, CRBSI is associated with a significant economic burden, highlighting the importance of preventive measures to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs.I have no potential conflict of interest to disclose.I did not use generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process.
