Thermo- and optically stimulated luminescence (TSL and OSL) and microcrystalline structure were studied in thin radiation-sensitive layers created by a scanning pulsed IR laser beam on the surface of single-crystal samples of stoichiometric corundum. Based on experimental data obtained by varying the energy transmitted in the pulse and the distance between the centres of their impact, the relationship between TSL and OSL outputs and the area of the microcrystalline structure was established. The optimal values of the energy transmitted in the pulse and the scanning density at which the OSL and TSL outputs are maximum were selected.
