The aim is to evaluate progress in integrating prevention services for vertical transmission of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B into existing healthcare frameworks.
Analyzed current integration of services into antenatal care (ANC).
Assessed the maintenance of support for elimination of mother-to-child transmission (EMTCT) initiatives.
Reviewed policies and practices in 21 high-burden countries.
Enhanced integration of prevention services into ANC shows promise.
Increased support for EMTCT contributes to decreased transmission rates.
Identified remaining gaps that need to be addressed for complete elimination.
Abstract
Integrating HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B prevention of vertical transmission services into ANC and maintaining support for EMTCT efforts is critical to close these gaps.
