Rising prices and high dependence on imported raw materials for chemical fertilizers increase the need for stable agricultural inputs.Domestic resources, such as sewage sludge fertilizer (SSF) offer sustainable alternatives that mitigate environmental impacts. This study surveyed 1,326 Japanese consumers using Best-Worst Scaling to assess perceptions of crops grown with SSF.Overall evaluations were low, but providing appropriate information moderately improved consumer attitudes. However, this effect was limited among consumers using heuristic judgments. These findings suggest that diverse communication strategies are crucial for promoting SSF acceptance and supporting the transition to sustainable agriculture.
