Key Points

  • This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of biologic drugs for treating specific phenotypes of antiphospholipid syndrome (APS).
  • Assessment of current use of biologic drugs in APS cases
  • Evaluation of patient population heterogeneity
  • Analysis of treatment response definitions and disease activity metrics
  • Biologic therapies may be beneficial for refractory or complement-driven APS cases
  • Limited data availability impacts definitive conclusions
  • Standardized outcome measures are lacking for consistent treatment evaluation

Abstract

Biologic therapies may represent valuable adjunctive options for specific APS phenotypes, especially refractory or complement-driven cases. However, data remain limited by heterogeneity in patient populations, absence of standardized disease activity metrics, and unclear definitions of treatment response. Future studies should prioritize multicentre prospective designs, standardized outcome measures, and biomarker-driven stratification to guide personalized use of biologics in APS.
