Does the location of myocardial late gadolinium enhancement on cardiac MRI correlate with adverse remodeling and reduced function in competitive amateur cyclists?
Non-ischemic myocardial LGE is common in competitive amateur cyclists, but adverse remodeling is specifically associated with non-RVIP LGE, indicating a potentially pathological phenotype.
Nearly one-third of cyclists had focal non-ischemic myocardial LGE, predominantly at the RVIP. Adverse remodeling and reduced function were confined to cyclists with non-RVIP LGE, suggesting a distinct, pathological phenotype.
