This research analyzes the continuities and changes in the evolution of China's multilateral discourse from the Hu Jintao era to the Xi Jinping era by utilizing a systematic text analysis method. The dataset is compiled from press conference transcripts of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, modified to track multilateral policies in the Global North, Asia, and the Global South. The systematic quantitative text analysis is conducted under the framework of Faircloughian Critical Discourse Analysis. The results of the data analysis show that there are continuities in the strategic importance of the UN Security Council and adherence to the One China Principle. However, significant changes have occurred in the leadership of China's multilateral policies, the implementation of its global development policies, and the strategies for shaping China's international role.Based on these findings, the main implication is that China is effectively using multilateral policies to further its objectives in the international world order and is showing significant progress as seen from a macro-political perspective. The key elements captured in this analysis are China's enhanced leadership, effective bureaucratic implementation, and appropriate strategy adjustments in the current international environment.
