Rapid urbanization and population growth in Indian cities have created new challenges related to housing, employment, infrastructure and urban planning. Thepresent studyfocusesonthe DemographicstructureofBarraareainKanpurNagar.Barra isan important residential locality located in the southern part ofKanpur cityand it includes various wards such as BarraWorld Bank, Barra North, West and Barra 2.The area has experienced considerable populationgrowthduetourbanexpansion,migrationandavailabilityofresidentialsfacilities. Themainobjectiveofthisresearch istoanalyzethedemographiccharacteristicsofthepopulation includingpopulationdistribution,agecomposition,sexratio,literacylevel,occupationalstructure,and population density. Both primary and secondarydata sources have been used in this research. Primarydata were collected throughhouseholdsurveys, interviews,and fieldobservations,whilesecondarydatawereobtained from Census of India reports, Kanpur Municipal Corporation records, and other government publications. Statisticalmethodssuchaspercentageanalysis,tabulation,graphs,and mapshave beenused for interpreting the data. The findings ofthe studyhighlight the demographic trends ofthe Barra region and identify various urbanissuesassociatedwithincreasingpopulationpressure.Thestudyalso providessuggestionsfor better urban planning and sustainable development at the local level.
