Abstract In this response to Körtvélyessy (2025. Word-formation at the crossroads of productivity, creativity, and structural complexity. Linguistics 64(1). 137–163), I raise various points concerning the study of morphological productivity and approaches to that topic, inspired by her paper and attempting to raise matters which might help us move beyond the current positions established in the literature, both in terms of nomenclature and in terms of conceptualisation of the field.
