Three novel bacteria (designated as N302-9 T , N342-3-1-2 T and N249-2) were isolated from traditional Chinese pickle (‘Suan cai’) and identified. Strain N302-9 T was phylogenetically related to the type strains of Paucilactobacillus wasatchensis , Paucilactobacillus kaifaensis and Paucilactobacillus hokkaidonensis . Strains N342-3-1-2 T and N249-2 were phylogenetically related to the type strains of Enterococcus gallinarum , Enterococcus innesii and Enterococcus casseliflavus . Strain N302-9 T had 71.4–72.5% ANI and 18.7–19.9% dDDH values with the type strains of all Paucilactobacillus species. Strains N342-3-1-2 T and N249-2 shared 99.3% ANI and 94.3% dDDH values. Strain N342-3-1-2 T had 75.2–77.0% ANI and 20.5–21.1% dDDH values with the type strains of E. gallinarum , E. innesii and E. casseliflavus . Based upon the data obtained in the present study, two novel species, Paucilactobacillus salsurae sp. nov. and Enterococcus salsurae sp. nov., are proposed, and the type strains are N302-9 T (=JCM 37828 T =GDMCC 1.5980 T ) and N342-3-1-2 T (=JCM 37829 T =LMG 33889 T ), respectively.
