Recently, there has been considerable increase in the availability and the use of advanced diagnostic imaging in equine veterinary practice. Among those modalities, computed tomography is commonly used to diagnose head pathology. Besides its now routine use to diagnose dental and paranasal sinuses pathology, computed tomography has proven useful in diagnosing less common diseases. This article presents five clinical cases of equine head pathology where computed tomography was used for diagnostics and for surgical and monitoring purposes. Review of the relevant scientific literature will also briefly be presented for each area of interest. Cases of foreign bodies, temporomandibular and temporohyoid pathology, and skull fractures will be discussed.
