This article focuses the relationship between the smartcity concept and the idea of autonomous technology. The problem ofresistiveness in advanced Information and Communication Technologiesthat claim to be ‘autonomous’ is identified as a transcendental philosophicalconcept that marks conditions of possibility and limits the idea of asmart city and autonomous technology. Furthermore, the article showsthat information technology access to reality only achieves the typological,but not the eventful, singular, and concrete quality of experiencethat is subject to the principle of individuation. Thus, the concept of theSmart City is also overloaded with exaggerated hopes.
