Based on satellite monitoring results, various types of wildfires have been studied for six vegetation groups (boreal coniferous forests, temperate mixed and deciduous forests, shrublands, forest-tundra, grassland, and agricultural lands) that occurred in the Russian Far East in Russia during the fire season (April–October) in 2020–2024. Based on satellite data processing using the MCD64A1 information product, the areas of wildfires have been determined and the annual emissions of carbon-containing gases CO2, CO, CH4 and fine aerosols PM2.5 have been calculated. It has been found that 2021 was anomalous in terms of the area burned by wildfires (90.2 thousand km2), while 2024 was characterized by a record volume of fire-related emissions of climate-active gases and fine aerosols, amounting to 257.6 million t. Using the MCD14 satellite information product, variations in the Fire Radiative Power (FRP) values have been identified for fires that occurred in the studied area with various vegetation types. The Fire Radiative Energy (FRE) index has been calculated to estimate the time-integrated fire energy for burned areas with different vegetation groups.
