Laurel (Laurus nobilis L.), which is found widely in Turkey, especially in the Mediterranean, Aegean and Black Sea regions, is also widely obtained in the Hatay flora. In this study, optimization of extraction conditions of the phytochemical components of laurel plant (Laurus nobilis L.) extractions were examined using different extraction solvents and extraction times. Dried laurel leaves were treated with three different solvents (ethanol, methanol, and hexane) and three different extraction times (6, 18, and 24 hours). Eucalyptol was detected at the highest concentrations (10.36%, 15.35%, and 28.26%, respectively) in all three extraction times applied during the ethanol extraction of laurel leaves. Among the compounds obtained from the methanol extraction, camphene (14.78%), tetradecane (13.15%), and dodecane (10.67%) were determined from the 6-, 18-, and 24-hours extracts, respectively. In hexane extraction, the major component was eucalyptol (12.35%) in 6-hours extract, 1,4-didecylbenzene (30.79%) in 18-hours extract, and eremanthin (45.67%) in 24-hours extract. The results in this study show that Laurus nobilis L. phytochemical composition were affected by extraction solvents and times.
