The subject of the research is the phenomenon of ideology, examined in the context of a meaning-generation approach. The object of the study is ideology as a form of understanding social reality and an element of the meaning-generation code of culture. The goal of the work is to reveal the theoretical and methodological potential of the meaning-generation concept for the analysis of ideology. The author discusses the main tenets of meaning-generation theory, including the concept of the meaning-generation code and its structural elements, and analyzes the place of ideology in the system of meaning-making. Special attention is paid to the transformation of sources of meaning-making in the historical development of culture, as well as to identifying the specific nature of ideology as one of the factors in forming and reproducing meaning structures. Additionally, the possibilities of considering ideology as an element through which the interpretation of social reality and the constitution of its meaning order are realized are analyzed. The methodological foundation of the research consists of structural, functional, and comparative approaches. These approaches allow for the determination of the role of ideology in the system of meaning-making and its comparison with other sources of meaning formation. The novelty of the research is defined by two closely interconnected circumstances. First, the issues of ideology are examined in the context of the meaning-generating approach, which allows for the identification of new aspects of the relationship between ideology and processes of meaning-making, as well as clarifying its role in the structure of cultural mechanisms and ways of understanding social reality. Second, ideology is analyzed as a possible component of the meaning-generation code, which significantly broadens the understanding of its place in the system of meaning formation and reproduction. As a result, the author concludes that at the present stage, ideology is one of the significant elements of the meaning-generation code, as it allows individuals to understand the world in a certain way, endow its phenomena and processes with specific meanings, and form stable representations of social reality, its structure, and internal organization.
