This paper provides a brief and accessible statement of the basic structure of the Logical Framework Approach. It is hoped that this will encourage further use of the approach which, although time-consuming, provides not only sound guidance on the structuring of a monitoring and evaluation system but also helps to emphasise the role of planners and managers in specifying the intermediate and final objectives of the programme and project concerned.
