This record preserves bibliographic metadata and an institutional reference copy of the original description of Latiaxis (Lamellatiaxis) habui Azuma, 1971, currently accepted as Babelomurex habui (Azuma, 1971). The publication describes a new species of coralliophiline gastropod from off Kirime-zaki, Kii Peninsula, Honshu, Japan. The holotype measured 22.7 mm in height and 17.5 mm in breadth and was deposited in Azuma’s private collection. The specimen was collected by Shingo Habu in January 1971 at approximately 40–50 fathoms depth, 2–3 km off Kirime-zaki. The work includes the Japanese and English original descriptions, type locality, holotype measurements, etymological dedication to Shingo Habu, comparative remarks distinguishing the species from Latiaxis (Lamellatiaxis) marumai Habe & Kosuge, 1970, and text figures illustrating the holotype and comparative material.
