A total of 39 trenches were excavated, each measuring 30m by 2m, by a mechanical excavator under direct archaeological supervision. Two 5x5m extensions were excavated around the south ends of Trenches 8 and 35, targeted on two possible medieval features. Six trenches were found to contain archaeological remains, including ditches and pits of prehistoric, Roman, medieval and post-medieval date. The remains were low in density and complexity, loosely concentrated in the west of the site.
