HRMARS - The rapid advancement of financial technology (fintech) has transformed the financial services landscape globally, creating unprecedented opportunities for enhancing financial inclusion and strengthening the sustainability of cooperative institutions. Within ASEAN countries, Islamic cooperatives play a critical role in providing financial services to underserved populations while adhering to Shariah principles that emphasize social justice, ethical finance, and community welfare. Despite their importance, many Islamic cooperatives face challenges related to operational efficiency, technological adaptation, governance quality, and long-term sustainability. This paper develops a comprehensive conceptual framework that integrates fintech adoption, governance quality, stakeholder engagement, and digital financial inclusion to explain the sustainability of Islamic cooperatives in ASEAN. Drawing upon Resource-Based Theory (RBT), Stakeholder Theory, and Financial Inclusion Theory, this study argues that fintech adoption enhances operational efficiency, service accessibility, and member participation, while effective governance strengthens transparency, accountability, and stakeholder trust. Digital financial inclusion is proposed as a mediating mechanism through which fintech adoption and governance practices contribute to cooperative sustainability. Through an extensive review of contemporary literature, this paper synthesizes existing knowledge and identifies critical gaps in the intersection of Islamic finance, cooperative governance, and digital transformation. The proposed framework offers practical implications for policymakers, regulators, cooperative leaders, and Islamic financial institutions seeking to promote sustainable financial inclusion across ASEAN. The study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on Islamic fintech and cooperative development by providing a holistic perspective on how technological innovation and governance excellence can jointly support sustainable economic development.
